Peeta: Brings Out A Different Side Of Katniss. I think we have to remember how young Katniss is. Again, she has seen him at his worst. At the end, however, all these obstacles disappear. Katniss has never been able to lie nor hide her feelings --. While he is not necessarily Katniss' confidant, Katniss can be herself with Gale and has fewer reservations with him than she does with others. The action of love is what can keep marriages together and keep them strong, keep the husband and wife evolving and growing. Still, she feels as if she's betrayed Gale with her fake love affair with Peeta, so it appears she tries her best to make it up to Gale, who then does hard work in the coal mines. I loved this ending because, although she and gale had some good moments together, When Katniss and Peeta first shake hands at the reaping, they know very little about each other. It is not the boy willing to die to kill her during the revolution. She does love Peeta, i just think she has a long journey to actually realise her love for him. I will argue proactive. Although she cares about him, she does not want anything more than his friendship. The Hunger Games takes place in the ruins of North America: a country called Panem (in the year 2174), consisting of the Capitol and 12 subservient districts. So, if we consider love as an action, as opposed to a feeling, then first and foremost, the answer to this question would be yes. In Mockingjay i think it is the final oppurtunity for her to realise her love for him. He's a perfect antidote to Katniss' natural and warranted pessimism and gloom. Her feelings for him vary based on the situation, but they never develop into full-blown love. By the end of the trilogy, he does not trust his emotions, does not trust his memory, and to a large extent, does not trust Katniss. Gale refuses, however, because he's all about that self-sufficient life. At the end of Catching Fire, District 12 is bombed by the Capitol and Gale survives, ultimately ending up in District 13.
